Gavin served as Chair for the Multnomah County Democrats from September 9, 2005, to January 10, 2008. He has also served on the County rules, credentials, campaign, and budget & finance committees, the state and county technology infrastructure workgroups, and the state organization committee. He is a precinct committee person and has at times served as a delegate to the third congressional district and state central committees.

Gavin is a seasoned organizer who knows how to bring people together and get things done. The monthly meetups he led in Portland for Howard Dean drew hundreds of people who gave the money and time to the Dean campaign. During the Kerry campaign, Gavin coordinated the work of hundreds of out-of-state volunteers who came to Oregon.

As Chair, Gavin demonstrated his familiarity with the issues facing Multnomah County. His vision and focus made him the best candidate to Chair the Multnomah Democrats. Now, he's doing other things.
